Today, I felt Fall. Today, on the seventh day of October, I felt a tiny something in the air resembling my favorite season of the year. I would be lying to you if I said that I didn’t open the windows in our apartment every day since the first of October. I do it so that I can catch that first fall breeze of the year.
If you didn’t know, I live in South Florida. Humid, rainy, and non-fallish South Florida. So today, when I felt that wee of a breeze, I rejoiced.
Since late September, I’ve been introducing my wildling to Halloween. We did some home decorating, we read spooky books, and we watched fun movies. All indoor adventures because the heat has been unbearable, but now that fall is in the air, we can venture out into woods (read park). Saving our most treasured Halloween movie watching for special Sunday afternoons and weekday evenings.
Maybe it’s because life is so much more magical through his eyes, but I’ve enjoyed these movies as much, if not more than he has. So I wanted to share our favorite Halloween movies with you. They have saved hubby and I from multiple meltdowns and have given us the extra minutes we so desperately needed to finish a meal.
1. Room On The Broom
2. The Gruffalo
3. The Gruffalo’s Child
Hulu – If you don’t have a Hulu account, go grab it now. You can start with a free trial and then it’s only $5.99 a month for twelve months.
1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
2. Oddbods Party Monsters
Our favorite is, by far, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Liam loves the songs and I love the nostalgia that comes along with it. It’s the perfect Halloween movie.
Liam also really enjoys both Gruffalo movies. He loves the mouse and laughs every time he comes up. I, too, really enjoy the stories and can watch them over and over again.
Room On The Broom is similar to the Gruffalo in the way the story is narrated, but Liam can only watch it for about 15 minutes before moving on to something else. Wait, I’m not complaining. That’s more than enough time for me get something done.
And the Oddbods, well, they are these furry little oddballs. We love them. It’s actually a series on Hulu and when we saw they had a Halloween special we were so excited. Liam loves them and I find them quite funny.
I hope your toddler enjoys these movies as much as mine does. And I hope Fall has arrived where you live! Let me know if there are any other Halloween or Fall movies we should watch.
Honorable Mention: The Netflix movies I mentioned are based on books! How fun would it be to compare? If you have an older toddler, read the book and then watch the movie. This is one of my favorite things to do and I cannot wait to introduce Liam to this practice.
