Why I Needed A Capsule Wardrobe

I have so much I want to say, but I have no idea where to begin. I guess we can start in two thousand seven. I was in high school and my life consisted of school Monday through Thursday afternoon and partying Thursday night through Sunday night. Each party or get-together that I attended required a brand new outfit. I would spend my parent’s hard-earned money on expensive clothes and shoes. I would also spend most of my weekend grooming myself and straightening my hair so that when the evening came around, I would be flawless. Then college happened and my party outfits turned to t-shirts and jeans. Once I…

    Innermost Thoughts In Motherhood

Have you ever had a thought and immediately mom-shamed yourself for it? I’m talking about the type of thoughts that we mothers have on the sixth day of no more than three hours of uninterrupted sleep. You know that thought, the one you’d die for before having to admit. Please, I know you know. You have to know! I can’t be the only one. Or wait, maybe it’s not a thought, maybe it’s an action. Maybe you’ve shoved your baby’s paci a little too rough into their mouth. Perhaps you’ve tucked in your wildly innocent toddler one bit too hard. Dear Mama, your innermost thoughts in motherhood are more common…

Why Every Mother Needs A Capsule Wardrobe

I am a mother and I refuse to look like a hot mess (most of the time). OK, I admit it, I don’t give as much effort as I should when it comes to looking my best. But that has to change because feeling my best starts with looking my best. At least for me. Yes, mental health matters a lot, but if we are being completely honest, what we look like, definitely affects how we feel. I can’t blame it all on motherhood. I stopped trying long before that. But it is in motherhood that I have noticed the effects of this behavior. Simply put, if I don’t put…

Toddler Capsule Wardrobe | Fall + Winter 2018

Fall and Winter in South Florida are not nearly as cozy as I would like them to be, but at some point, it does cool down. So until then, I’m going to start working on our capsule wardrobes for the upcoming seasons. Last Fall Liam was about five months old and we spent a lot of our free time taking him on walks. Back then it was simple. We would keep him in his sleep n’ plays all day and wear him in the carrier. No fussing with layers or big kid clothes. However, this year we can barely hold him still for a second. He has become a wildly…

    Finding Your Self-Identity In Motherhood

Did you lose your self-identity after becoming a mother? I know I did. I was so focused on being a perfect mom and a perfect wife and a perfect everything for everyone that in the process, I lost sight of who I was. Not to say that I knew my purpose before motherhood, but I was a little selfish and felt more in tune with my desires. It’s sort of bittersweet this motherhood thing. I mean, becoming a mom to my sweet boy has been the greatest blessing and has made me mature and become very selfless and responsible, but after a year of joy, struggles, and so many new…

Cesarean Section: Prepping for the Possibility

Thirty-Two percent of deliveries in the U.S. result in cesarean sections. I was part of that percentage and I was very upset about it. My labor and delivery plans did not include having a cesarean, but somewhere deep inside of me, I knew it would end that way. You see, I was to be induced at 37 weeks for mild preeclampsia. Twenty-three and some percentage of medically indicated inductions result in c-sections. Nowadays, your chances of having a cesarian are much higher and even if your plan is for a fully natural and drug-free birth, I still believe, you should be prepared for all possibilities. I’m going to divide…
